A lot has happened in the recently held Ms. Universe pageant. It was full of it all ~ action, suspense, humiliation, heart ache and most of unveiling of the characters of those who entered that contest.
Over the years, a lot of young women desired to covet the crown and be named Ms. Universe. First of, because basically they are representing their own country, thus, it is both an honor to win it for the people you represent. Second, being crowned and acknowledged as the most beautiful in all universe is something not everyone can achieve. Let’s face it, we often say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but, yes that’s a big, resounding “BUT” there. The affirmation that goes with winning is really something. But what does it take to be the most beautiful queen amongst all those lovely women across the planet? It is not just your physical beauty that needs to shine, your personality and character has a bigger weight in it. Because when you are crowned as the Ms. Universe, you will not just parade the streets of the world, catwalks and all those luxurious privileges that comes with it. You will also give voice to those who are crippled and silent, those that are shun by the world by their mere existence. You will host and be an ambassador of good will, hope and love. So, just being beautiful won’t cut it. In the recent faux pas that has blundered the world of pageants and beauty, the characters of the contestants that proudly represented their country was unveiled. Its sad to know that behind those beautiful faces is an ugly truth that they are not true to the cause of Ms. Universe Pageant ~ to harbor love, peace, compassion, selflessness, righteousness and purity. And it is for the whole world to see, that the women each country so lovingly support and rooted for is nothing but a pretty face. Nobody wanted that to happen, but the reaction and actions of these women proved that we should be more careful in choosing the one to represent us. But not all of them are monsters underneath, there are those who were kind, fair and compassionate like Ms. USA, Ms. Bulgaria, Ms. Myanmar, Ms.Malaysia, Ms. Mauritius, Ms. Sweden, Ms. British Virgin Islands. Although they did not win, they are winners in their own rights.
With all these, we all came out as winners because who would have thought we will all have a front row seat on the unveiling of character of the aspiring beautiful women who once dreamed of being crowned Ms. Universe. To the reigning Ms. Universe 2015 – Ms. Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, we are so proud that you represented our country and that you maintained grace and composure amidst the chaos that happened. You truly deserve to be called the most beautiful woman and crowned as Ms. Universe.
